I Wish My Dad Was A Millionaire

I wish my dad was a millionaire
With tons of money to spare.
Then I'd be a rich spoilt little girl
With no end of materials and care.
I'd have a huge princessy room of my own,
And servants to wait on me hand and foot.
Everything I want would be given to me,
Even the non-existent forbidden fruit.
I'd have meals at high-end restaurants everyday
Those that serve clams and lobster bisque.
The more I dream, the better it seems;
Oh wouldn't life be such a frisk!

A World Of My Own

I sit in Elementary Math class
Pretending to listen to the teacher,
When in fact my mind has taken the bus
To a place where reality is just a blur.

A place where the Sun rises from the west
And the Earth rotates the wrong way round.
A place where everything's a mess,
With ballerinas and juggling clowns.

"Stop daydreaming and pay attention!"
The teacher's voice blasts in my ears.
I was transported back to our dimension;
Oh how I wish I could disappear

To a world of my own.

Kahu

Once upon a time in a faraway Maori village,
A little girl named Kahu was born.
But instead of rejoicing with everyone else,
Her great-grandfather, Koro, was in a constant mourn.

It was no surprise to the family though;
Everyone knew a male descendant was all he wanted.
So when Kahu was born on that fateful day,
Koro’s dream of finding a suitable Maori chief was shattered.

Poor Kahu, she loved her great-grandfather so dearly,
But her love was never returned.
Koro’s obsession with finding a chief just grew stronger,
And so did Kahu’s yearn.

Each day passed just like the other
Yet Kahu was more heartbroken than before.
The family felt Kahu’s pain
And prayed that her heart would cure.

One fine day, Kahu proved to Koro
That she was worthy of his love.
She risked her life to save the village,
Did what most boys would never conceive of.

Kahu lay motionless on the hospital bed,
Looking so pale yet composed.
By then Koro thought it was too late;
He felt a pang of remorse.

Dear readers, the story would never end like that,
It’s too melancholic and tragic.
Little Kahu woke up miraculously and gazed at Koro’s toothless grin.
She finally understood the meaning of magic.

When I first set my eyes on you,
My heart started beating faster without a clue.
Each day passed just like the other,
And yet I only grew fonder and fonder.
Wanted to tell you many a time,
That it was you who made my heart chime.
But whenever I saw your face, your eyes,
The words in my mouth just fade and die.
I’ve suffered in silence for so long,
Bit my nails when it all seemed wrong.
Oh why won’t you open your eyes and see
How much it’s all hurting in me?
